Middle Ground
by T K Murali
While doing a VAT assessment for our client whose case was stuck up because of a dispute on rate of tax chargeable with the department, we researched the subject and came up with credible arguments which was acceptable to both the department and the party. This enabled us to have all the pending assessments completed in record time. The client was very happy and satisfied.
Issue of Forms
One of our clients needed to obtain statutory forms to the value of over Rs 90 Crores spanning several assessment years, we represented the client with the authorities and presented their case in a very convincing manner. Authorities were fully satisfied with the genuineness of the transactions and issued statutory forms to the full extent of the clients requirement. Client was very happy as they could complete many pending assessments with this one act.
Extended Support
Sometimes, even a customer/supplier of our client approach us to resolve some of their problems with our clients. On one such occasion, when a Customer of a Client visited us due to a notice served by their jurisdictional Authority for mismatch of their Purchases declared in Annexure-1 with that of their Seller (our client) in Annexure-2, we advised our client to effect necessary rectifications in their Annexure-2 and file revised return along-with the copies of their Sales Invoices. These were submitted to the Assessing Authority with a letter pleading for condonation for the inadvertent error. The customer of the client was very happy with our suggestions and prompt response.
Registration Blues
When Registration of two of the group companies of a client were cancelled for non-reporting of monthly returns, we took up the issue with the Joint commissioner, well past 90 days after the cancellation were effected and provided all supporting documents, including manual returns for all the missing periods in a very convincing manner. JC having been satisfied thus, ordered revocation of the cancellation. Client was quite happy.
