GST Maze and Way Out
By J. Arasi Ponmalar
During the Initial Phase of GST Implementation, one of the client instead of loading the CGST & SGST e-Cash ledger, loaded the IGST balance. Unfortunately, since their business is buying and selling of movable property, they will never be able to effect an IGST Transaction to utilize the e-Cash balance.
Swiftly we reacted and advised the client to transfer few goods to their unit in Chennai thereby effecting an IGST transaction (stock transfer) wherein the IGST Cash balance of the Unit in other state was converted into IGST credit balance of Chennai unit, which could be utilized for setting off both CGST & SGST.
Nothing is Impossible
The heavy traffic in the GST portal on the last date of filing TRAN-1 affected a huge number of taxpayers in India. Adding to the numbers, we genuinely faced filing problems for few clients even though attempts were made well ahead of due time.
Hence, to facilitate genuine tax payers who failed to file the TRAN-1 only due to the inefficiency in the system and the related technical glitches, on behalf of the tax payer company, representation was made before both the jurisdictional officers as well as the GST Council. The taxpayer got the desired relief and relaxation. We believe in the adage nothing is impossible and leave no stone unturned when it comes to client servicing.
